Nosei Sakata
[*0]

*0 is the mathematically inclined pseudonym for japanese puretone artist Nosei Sakata. Asterisk-zero means ''multiplied by zero (calculation)'' The name of his project refers to the multiplication of anything times zero equating zero, thus giving you an idea of what is sonically in store on his fourth recording, so answers are zero in all cases as a result *0 means ''nothing''. That is main concept of *0's works, the oriental thought about nothing, japanease thougt about ''mu'' (nothing in japanease). nothing ...nothing could create all things. Sakata's first few recordings had been attempts by this Japanese artist to out-muscle Ryoji Ikeda's sinewave and bleep constructions, with a great deal of success. Nosei Sakata has released solo albums on Meme and his own Japanese Mu Label in addition to collaborating with Richard Chartier on 0/r (12k). A musician and a designer Sakata creates audio which barely registers on the audio-spectrum. His most recent works are exploring inaudible soundwave-based explorations. *0 is part of the new wave of Japanese minimalists exploring computerized anti-music. His 12k debut was a previously unreleased track on the ''.aiff'' compilation.
